Certificate of Compliance

In some circumstances you may need a licensed electrician to provide a Certificate of Compliance

Examples where you need a Certificate of Compliance

  • Reconnecting a property after a natural disaster (cyclone, fire or flood).
  • Building a new property.
  • Making major modifications to an existing property.
  • Installing solar panels.

How to get a Certificate of Compliance

  1. Call your electrician to inspect your property and issue the certificate.
  2. Contact Power and Water on 1800 245 092 and tell them you have a Certificate of Compliance. They will need to sight the certificate either via email or physically (usually by leaving the certificate in the meter box).
  3. Power and Water will then send someone out to connect (or reconnect) your power.
  4. If you’ve built a new property or completed major works, contact Jacana Energy to set up an account.
